Japanese man makes his mark at BTS station

It’s about 10pm on Saturday night. I climb the escalator at my local BTS skytrain station and make my way towards the platform. Without thinking I head for the obligatory spot with the least amount of people, when suddenly I notice a dark shape hovering behind a concrete pillar. I carry on walking but have to do a double-take when I realise that the shape is in fact an elderly Japanese man quite contentedly pissing all over the platform.

At this point I’m not sure whether I should laugh or be disgusted. I look around me for some inspiration, but despite there being around 10 people on each side of the platform, nobody seems to bat an eyelid. Even the security guard who  is standing within five metres of the guy does nothing. He just stands there looking a bit pathetic and a whole lot confused. I guess it’s not the kind of thing that happens every day.

A few moments later the skytrain approaches and our new friend quietly climbs aboard, the other passengers none the wiser to his dubious piss-puddling pastime.

So there you go. Next time you feel like relieving yourself at the skytrain station, why not do it right there on the platform? The security guards certainly won’t stop you.
